What Is Thermo Modified Wood?

Thermo Wood is not a type of timber in itself, but a treatment for timber species which involves no staining or painting. Instead, the timber is subjected to intense heat and vapour, which creates a tougher, longer-lasting product by altering the core of the timber itself.

To create Thermo Wood, the timber is placed in a kiln and heated up to 180℃. Vapour is introduced to stop the timber from splitting in the kiln whilst chemical changes take place within the structure of the timber. When finished, the wood has different qualities which make it suitable for your construction.
